Anyone had a root canal?

What was the experience like? How much did you pay out of pocket? I have to have one and I’m really anxious about it so I was wondering what it’s like.. does it hurt a lot? I’m pregnant too, a total ball of nerves right now 😞

No pain just awkward and uncomfortable. They numb the area with a shot. I was very nervous before the procedure but it was not as bad as I had built it up to be . My out of pocket cost was 850$ due to a waiting period with my insurance.

I’ve had 2, didn’t hurt at all. I was not pregnant & my insurance paid for the actual procedure but not the crown ( the fake tooth ) so I think it was about $700 for both? But I got porcelain instead of silver so they look like regular teeth but it’s kind of a waste honestly I wish I got silver instead because one of my crowns broke about a year after I got it

Mine was pretty painful. I wasn't pregnant at the time. And i paid about $350 for it about 6 years ago.

I have had a few.  Not going to talk about the first one. You don’t want to know.  The others where not bad.  There is a little pain but if I tell my dentist it hurts he gets gets me more pain relief.  It sore the next day but not like a lot of pain just sore and that the gums. The tooth doesn’t hurt.

I was 5 months when I had mine taken out. I only got numbed in my gums which really didnt bother me vs in the top of my mouth which felt like a sharp sting. I think I built up more anxiety because I didnt know obviously what I was about to endure and also I was only allowed tylenol afterwards. I felt nothing and it took maybe 15 mins if that. Because I didnt have dental at the time I paid $500 for the procedure and medicated mouth wash because I had an infection due to the root canal.

It doesn’t hurt a lot but it feels VERY weird and intense. You can feel them digging to the root but just the pressure of it, not pain at all. It’s a very long and uncomfortable process but not painful. I’m terrified of the dentist so I was sweating buckets the whole time. Mine took about 4 hours.
