Gestational Diabetes confusion...

So I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes a week ago. They checked my A1C in the beginning of my pregnancy and it was 4.6 with an average blood glucose of 85. They checked my A1C again today (31 weeks) and it was 4.1 with an average blood glucose of 71. Every time I check my blood glucose (2 hours after eating) it's 90-107 unless I eat a lot of carbs (pasta, sweets etc.) I'm just confused because my mom is diabetic and I used to go to her appointments with her, and everything my numbers are saying points to me not having diabetic numbers. I did (barely) fail the 1 hour and 3 hour test, but I'm not sure if I had a lot of carbs the day before or not. I'm just confused...
