We’re finally ready to purchase a home, but just thinking about the whole home buying process is making me nervous.

Talk to a realtor in your area. Other people answering these questions really isn’t going to help you. There is so much variability in every market, it’s best to speak to someone who knows your market. It costs nothing to talk to a realtor, they make their money when you buy (or sell) a house.

We got suuuper lucky, & bought ours for only $10,000 a week after we got married! It was completely unexpected. We gutted & redid the entire house, now it is worth $45,000.

All of those vary so much. So you’ll likely not get a fair/accurate answer from someone. We bought our house 7 years ago during a buyer’s market (low prices with really low interest on mortgage loans). We live in New York (about an hour from NYC). So houses and property taxes are very high here. So I believe our original amount for a house was around $147,000 and we made an offer of $137,000 and they accepted the offer right away because they were desperately trying to sell for a long time. It’s an older home. Raised ranch, one floor with 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom. Small, but EXTREMELY affordable for where we live. I can’t remember what our closing cost was or how much we put down though. Sorry.

Ours was a weird scenario... we are from Iowa in the boon docks... so asking price for the house was $20,000 because it was in an estate.. we offered $17,500 and it got accepted right away. We didn't put any down on the house because we didn't take out a mortgage but just did a personal loan because it was such a small amount. Didn't have an inspector or anything

We bought a 3 unit building this year that brings in $1800 a month rent. We paid $90,000 for the house and had to pay around $13,000 at closing. I think the inspection was $650 because it’s a triplex not a single family home. Our interest rate is 4% and we are in Pennsylvania.

We offered $346,000 (our area is VERY competitive).
Our offer was accepted.
We paid about $7,000 or so in closing costs.
Our inspection was $350 but most people around here pay around $500 (our realtor had a hook up with the inspector) and we had to pay for the VA inspection which was $500.
We live in Washington State, about an hour out of Seattle.

Every house is different just like everyone buying. House.  My husband and I get our house 16 years ago.  We payed 109. If we have wanted like 5 years the same house expulsion have been 65. That because of the market crisis. You know the crash and everyone losing job and than the homes. It was very bad where I live. Both my BILs got house twice the size of mine in the same area for under 50. Both were foreclosures. I don’t remember how much the inspection was.

Put 65k down. Listed at 285, offered 265 and got it. Only because they had an offer fall thru because of financing and we snagged it just after they related it and they wanted to sell it badly.
