So sad after fertility doctor

Sa

Sandra

I’m 42 ttc my first. The fertility doctor told me I only have 3% of getting pregnant. I cried the whole appointment.

I suffer from blood clots and I’m on blood thinners. So I can’t have ivf. My boyfriends 41 so the doctor said his sperm is old. To just adopt. 😢

I always wanted to be a mom. I’m heart broken. Please stories if you got pregnant naturally and your over 40.

Thank you

Please get a second opinion, I’ve seen men father children WELL into their 50’s! I’ve known women on blood thinners to get pregnant, I’ve also known women out in blood thinners during pregnancy because of blood clots. Start taking a prenatal now, get hubby a fertility friendly vitamin also and keep trying.

I fell pregnant at 40 naturally after one round of FSH injections; my husband was 46 at the time with normal sperm. Unfortunately we lost the baby at nearly 20 weeks but our fertility doc is confident we will fall pregnant again with the same meds. Keep trying and maybe see a new doctor.

Did your boyfriend have a sperm analysis? My husband is 48 and his sperm is above average. The comments from your doctor are inappropriate if no testing has been done.

Definitely see another doctor. At 42 it’s normal to have a 3% chance (under 35 it’s only 20% so pregnancy is never a high probability)...I’ll be 42 next month so I’m very familiar with the numbers. I also was super lucky and conceived on the first try last year at 40, unfortunately our son was a second trimester stillbirth, but we’re trying again and all of our doctors say it’s a low percentage but still very possible.

Honey never give up. God blesses and you and your SO are in His hands. My sister was on blood thinners when she found out she was pregnant and her daughter was born just fine. I’m gonna be 37 and pregnant with my fourth. I have PCOS and was told I would never have kids. The dad of my kids doesn’t have great sperm and God has made miracles with ours. I take metformin not just because I’m a diabetic type two but also helped regulate my periods. I also take prenatals daily and I also take regular musinex not just because I have allergies but it helps to thin the lining of the uterus which allows the sperm swim easier to the cervix. I also ate black licorice lol. I’m serious all four of my babies arrived with this mix and the blessings of God with us.

I think you should see another Dr. A reproductive endocrinologist to be particular. Read the book It Starts with The Egg and try again.

Omg I am so sorry you had such a lousy visit. Please don’t be down. And definitely go for a second opinion.

Please get a second opinion! I start blood thinners as soon as I get pregnant and old men have babies! That dr sounds ridiculous!
