Are Antacid Fruit Chews Safe During Pregnancy?

I am 13 weeks pregnant with my second and I'm starting to get really bad heartburn. I can't remember what is safe to take to relieve it during pregnancy. I have the off brand Antacid Fruit Chews. It says they are like the Alka Seltzer chews and the active ingredient is 750 mg of Calcium Carbonate. Does anyone know if it is safe for me to take them without affecting the Baby?

Calcium carbonate is the same active ingredient as Tums, which my midwife says are safe. You're probably fine, but it's always best to check with your care provider.

From the pregnancy pamphlet my doctor gave me: “Riopan, Mylanta or Tums may be taken as directed before meals and at bedtime. Overeating or spicy foods may contribute to heartburn. Avoid eating immediately before laying down.”
