Color blindness?

My son is 2. He is able to distinguish and name the basic colors except for green. Whenever he sees green he calls it blue, but he also calls blue blue. Is that pretty normal or could he possibly have a type of color blindness?

It’s pretty normal :) Most kids name a lot of objects as blue. Green and blue are close anyways. He’ll figure it out soon enough.

Could be Tritanomaly or Tritanopia, but the only way to check is to wait till he is a bit older and can do the tests.

My son is partially color blind and knows all his colors... it’s just the colors he sees are different than what we see. And I wouldn’t have ever known he was partially color blind without 3 eye doctors saying he was.

Probably normal.  If he was color blind, and he had problems with green, he would mix up red and green.  Red and green look the same to red/green color blind people.
That being said, two of my brothers are color blind and they didn’t figure it out until the older one was in high school.

My husbands cousin’s son did the same thing until he was four. But I’d bring it up to his doctor anyway.
