Pre-term labour

I thought I’d write this post in case it helps any other mumma’s out there!

I was really ill with sickness and diarrhea at the beginning of the week with awful cramps which I thought were cause from having a poorly stomach. I assumed it was just a bug and even joked with my mum I feel like I’m having contractions.

After 24hrs I still wasn’t feeling well, so we went to hospital to make sure everything was okay especially as I couldn’t eat and was most likely dehydrated.

My doctor sent me to get a non-stress test done and turns out those cramps were actually contractions! I was admitted straight away and given medication to try and slow contractions as I was only 34 weeks 4 days they didn’t want my little boy to arrive yet.

Now, everyone that I’ve spoken to about contractions and labour have told me “oh you’ll know when they start”. The fact is everyone is different and I had no idea! For me they felt like poo cramps, period pain and lower back pain. They were uncomfortable yes, but I wasn’t in a massive amount of pain.

If you think something isn’t right or you’re uncomfortable ring your doctor or midwife!
