Lipstick for prom! Help plz

So I never wear lipstick but my dress is red and black so I wanna wear red lipstick with it but I also wanna kiss my boyfriend and not get lipstick on him lol. Would that like stay-on-all-day stuff work or should I just get some and test it out or just not wear any?
