First pregnancy, should I do the membrane sweep?

So, this is my first pregnancy and I don't really know what I'm doing LOL! I am now 37 weeks, I have not had any complications during this pregnancy and I just had a check up yesterday. Well, at my check up the doctor said if I make it to 39 weeks then she would strip my membrane (only if I want her to). I want to give birth as soon as I can (pregnancy sucks and Im very anxious to meet my little one!) lol but I also heard the membrane strip can be very painful and not always help speed the process. I know I am probably jumping the gun a little because in reality I might not even have to make this decision (baby could come before 39 weeks?) but just in case, whats everyones thoughts?

I wouldn’t bother. 
They only work if your body is ready, and adding an unnecessary risk of rupturing your waters early, and introducing bacteria.

I got it done and went into active labor a few hours later. I don’t remember it hurting at all, just uncomfortable. I’ll be having it done again this time if they ask.

I had one with my first. I didn't think it hurt I've heard people say it does. It didnt send me into labor though. It wont work unless your body is ready.

I had it done last time it was a little uncomfortable but not awful. Made me bleed a little. My water broke the next morning even though I wasn’t dilated or having contractions. It was a long road for me after that. Don’t think I would do it again. Even though I don’t enjoy being pregnant

Also, I had it done my last pregnancy. I was overdue and went into labor a few hours later.

I wouldn’t try anything before 40 weeks. Like others have said there’s a risk of rupturing your water and it won’t work if you’re body isn’t ready. Then you may end up needing to be induced. 
I’d wait until your overdue.

All I remember was being in SO much pain after and wanting to cunt punch the bitch who had done it.
Less than a week later my son was born 3 weeks early.
