Making friends?

Question

How do you make friends as an adult!?.... asking for a friend 👀
Nah but seriously, I only have 2-3 close friends and they don’t live close. Obviously when baby arrives I’ll be even more isolated 😟 I’m just wondering what are some good ways to go about making friends as a 30 year old with social anxiety 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

I moved to a new area at 4 months pregnant and didn’t know anyone. I did the NCT classes and over 3 years on I am still good friends with 3 other mums from the classes. The classes themselves weren’t worth the cost but the friendships were definitely worth it. You can absolutely make friends through baby groups but NCT was even better for me.

Snap! I moved an hour away to Rotherham to be with my husband 4yrs ago and work from home a lot so haven’t really met anyone locally. I’ve just paid to go to NCT classes to try and meet other mums locally and intend to go to different mum and baby groups when our little one arrives. Good luck xx

I’m the same. I moved from Sputh Wales to Somerset two years ago and haven’t really made any friends, think it’s hard to do so when your 30+ so I’m doing the NCT classes and have met some really nice people, fingers crossed some friendships come out of it 😊 x

Baby groups!! Babies are such an easy way in, people tend to be super friendly and chatty! Most of my close friends are people are I made at baby groups!

My local library do wriggle and rhymn. It's free and play is included too. Great way to meet other people.

I found Mush app was good - I’m still I regular contact with some of the mums I met 2.5 years later :)
Getting out to baby groups was great for my daughter and for me. It was nerve wracking at first but worth it to meet other mums x

I’ve got SA too. After baby was a few months used a mix of apps like Mush and MummySocial for play dates and went to some classes as well. Some didn’t work (baby hated baby massage and told everyone that so felt too embarrassed to go back there!) but some (£2 sing and play at a local church) did. Good luck.

I’m the same, husband is in the military too so he is in London and only comes home every 2 weeks for a weekend. Very lonely.

Do you have a local mum's facebook group? If not maybe start one. Just be honest and say your lonely and looking to make new friends. Go for push chair walks and coffee. We have a local facebook group and there is always someone just looking for a chat and fresh air. People always respond. I'm in Cornwall
