Should I invite him?

So my cousins wedding invited just came out and I’m wondering if I should invite my BF? We’ve technically been dating ~ 8 months now (officially a couple for ~5). My cousins wedding is at the end of June and it’s out of state. My dad said he didn’t even think about me inviting him and isn’t sure that I should since I’d probably be too concerned about making sure that he’s having a good time. Idk what to do since I’ve never been in a relationship at the time of going to a wedding.

did your invitations say you and a guest? or if it's more casual did the bride say it's okay? that's the two things that should be taken into consideration.  if its formal and a guest wasn't specified, then they may not want to pay for an uninvited guest. if its casual and they dont know him, they might not want him at their wedding

I would ask if there wasn’t a plus one addressed to you. Some people don’t want people who they don’t really know at there wedding. If they are find with him coming then I’d definitely invite him and would think twice!

Your dad is probably not wrong. You probably will spend more time making use he is having a good time. Also, can you take a plus one? I just recently went to a wedding and the invite was specifically for me and not me and my husband. They were paying a lot of money per person so they couldn't afford extras. So I'd make sure it's cool with them before you invite him too. But if your okay with it, I'd invite him! I've always loved going to events like that with my husband. 😊

You can If you want HOWEVER you should check with your cousins first. I know I had a deadline for when I needed to know if someone was bringing a plus one because of food. Also be polite and make sure he isn’t in family photos since you guys are in a new relationship.

Check with the bride and groom. If they say yes then sure invite him. As long as you be respectful and ask the bride and groom and you want to bring him as your plus one then sure! But depending on the wedding don’t be surprised if the couple say no. Weddings are expensive and while you know people won’t show up it’s still scary to imagine if they do and we let others bring an extra guest we won’t have enough food or go completely broke! Or if they allow you to bring someone you’re dating they have to allow a few others and then it doubles or triples the amount of guests making them pay even more! So point is talk to the couple FIRST worry about inviting later

Reverse the roles. If he got invited to a wedding where a plus 1 was allowed, would you want to be at least invited or would you be okay with him saying he has a wedding to go to that day so he will be busy aka, no invitation? I get your dads point buuuuut then again it’s like.. you can bring him and not be awkward about it. If no one knows him, that would be his chance to meet everyone and mingle. I say invite him and leave it up to him. If he asks if you want him to, I’d just explain yes of course but you will be walking around, talking, socializing and you don’t want to put him in a situation of feeling left out around the family.
