Why does the 2nd baby get screwed over?!

The other day my husband and I were talking about what we need for our second little girl. And he asked, “why are we the only ones buying stuff for this baby?! Second baby’s are expensive too!” I kinda shrugged and finally said “cause it’s the second baby. And we’re having another girl. And I guess it’s just not as exciting?” Idk why it is the way it is but it really does suck!! 
I mean I kind of understand we really do have a lot of stuff still from out first. She is 2, so we had saved a lot of things and clothes. So besides diapers/wipes and most likely needing formula and few lil random things we are pretty covered. 
But still I feel like this lil girl is getting gypped! My MIL went crazy with our first and probably had something she had bought for the baby ever time I saw her...my mom didn’t go as crazy but still we haven’t gotten anything. Not even after we told them we were pregnant.🤷‍♀️ Not saying the things are what is the most important but it just seems odd to me and I hope they will treat this baby the same as our fist or show love to her equally. 
Idk maybe I’m just paranoid about people showing favoritism. But am I the only one that has noticed this?!

I don't think it's a favoritism thing. I mean why should they have to go over board all over again? It doesn't mean they dont love this baby, but if you already have most of the stuff you need from the last baby what more do you want? My son will be 2 when we have our second son, and my family hasn't reacted the same as they did the first time but I expected that. Especially since we also saved everything major, and won't need anything, and if we do we will buy it ourselves this time. We are having a baby "sprinkle" and asking just for diapers and wipes.

Peobably because you said you are having another girl 2 years after your first. Most people assume you saved everything from your first.

Well, part of it is you have a girl already so you most likely have everything still since she’s so young. They’ll love them just the same once baby is here.

This is my second baby, my daughter is 15 months old... I’m not expecting anything 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t consider this baby being gypped. I’m actually excited to not have to worry about gifts, that just means I get to pick out anything we need myself! We took good care of everything from our first so, we’re set. No gifts needed to be honest.

Mine are 8 years apart so there was major excitement for both. But I've definitely heard a lot of people on here say how their families didn't seem as excited for them the second time around (with some family members of theirs going as far as to reply with "what, again?")

I have a two year old daughter, and now I’m 32 weeks pregnant with a son. Even with the opposite sex, we’ve received nearly nothing for the new baby- and I totally understand! We’re more established now, and people shouldn’t feel the need to help as much, in my opinion.

I felt exactly the same way. I had a girl 2 years ago and a little boy recently. My in laws didn’t even come visit me in the hospital. The number of visitors for baby number 2 at home was like 3 ppl vs all my friends the first time. I received no presents from anyone with baby number 2. I bought him his own blanket because all my baby blankets were pink.
