At work our ultrasound techs will do what they are most comfortable with at this point! Usually will start external and if they can’t see much, they’ll go internal!

I had mine at 7 weeks 4 days external and saw a baby and a good heartbeat 💗

I had an external at 6 weeks 4days and it was no problem. I only had internals when I was before 6 weeks.

They could see baby and heartbeat on external for me also did a vaginal ultrasound to get a closer look
