Too dependent?

My son will be 3 months on the 13th, and he has quite a bit of “stranger danger” towards most people. My MIL has been making comments about how he is too dependent on me and needs to not be so much of a mamas boy. How am I supposed to make my 3 month old less dependent on his mother?! She is driving me crazy with these comments and making me feel like I’m doing this whole mom thing wrong!

Ignore her. My husband says the same crazy line, she’s too dependent on me and that’s not normal. No it’s perfectly normal. They recognize your voice and heartbeat from hearing you for 9months inutero. They then come out and you are breastfeeding, they are sleeping on your chest, your the first thing they see everyday and through the night. They know YOU. They know your smell. Your touch. Your gaze. Your soft voice. Your warmth. Your snuggles. Your kisses. They have that soft place to fall and know you will fulfill all their needs, that is normal.

Tell her to go pound sand lol So what if your baby wants Mama and no one else. He’s been in your tummy for 9 months and now we expect babies to just go to anyone?

My advice is to ignore her. Everyone has an opinion, but it only matters if you feel your are doing right by your baby. Some babies are just like that, all they want is momma. It doesn't make him too dependant on you. It just sounds like she's a bit jealous he wants you all the time and not her. I mean, he's 3 months. It's not like he's 13.

That’s called survival! If they were comfortable with any human they would not survive, tell her that’s human survival and to piss off.

Oh no! My son used to do the same!! He wouldn’t go to anyone but me and would scream and cry till he had his mommy back... he was still young..
My daughter who is almost 3 months is way way different, she’ll go to anyone and smile her face off.

Tell her “It’s because I’m his mom. He has been living inside me for 9 months and I’m his safe haven from everything and everyone else. And I’m happy to be that for him.”

Ur in the 4th trimester still! All babies are too soon . If babies could they would stay in 3 months longer . But they physically can’t . ( thank god )! They need their mom and dad that’s it . Mostly mom. They can’t be clingy and u can’t spoil a baby .

A 3 month old is supposed to be dependent on mom! She's just being salty in my opinion. I really don't think you can spoil a baby, they rely on you heavily and you smell and sound the moat familiar to them. I'm sure it is something he will outgrow with time as he continues to explore the world

My husband was mad yesterday that he held our daughter and she cried till I took her. When he has her and I talk to her she smiles. She loves her daddy but I told him she would be a momma's girl 😍🤷

He’s a baby and you are the one who feeds him so that’s how it’s supposed to be. So she’s an idiot. The only thing I would say is that for your sake it’s nice if someone else feeds him once in a while (if you’re not yet doing that).
