IUD EXPERIENCES: yay or nay?

Looking to hear positive and negative IUD experiences!! PLEASE SHARE! ❤️

I picked I would never get it, I want to add "again". I had Mirena for a year about 6 or 7 years ago. It was horrible. I gained 40 pounds that year, my mental state was horrible and even after getting it out I didn't get a period. I had to jump start it with Provera.  My cousin and a friend also had Mirena and gained weight on it. I still think it's a great form of birth control, just not something for me.

I had it for 9 months. And did nothing but bleed for 9 months straight. It totally sucked and don't even get me started on the hormonal roller coaster. Ugh it was terrible.

There is a lower hormonal option that doesn’t mess with lactation. It’s called Skyla and I love mine

My first Mirena stopped my previously awful periods completely. I liked it enough I got a second one when the first expired. I had it taken out to have a baby, but will be getting a new one placed shortly. I can't imagine using any other type of birth control ever again.

I had skyla and loved it.  Took it out only because we were ttc.  It took 6 weeks for my cycle to return to normal and I was able to get pregnant our second month of trying.  No weight gain or mood issues with skyla for me.  Nuva ring gave me horrible headaches and I cannot take oral contraceptives due to a blood clotting issue, so I’m grateful it worked so well.  I’ll definitely get another IUD once we’re done having babies.

I had mirena for only one year, but I had no side affects, and no periods. It was at times a bit uncomfortable. It took 8 months for me to get pregnant after removing!

I had copper IUD for 9.5 years, no problems or issues at all.
It can make periods longer and heavier so be aware of that x

I had the mirena for 3 years until we decided to ttc. I always had pain with mine, it hurt during sex a lot. 
I got it bc i had an awful experience from the depo and my dr said I couldn’t go off it cold turkey. I ended up keeping the mirena bc i really didn’t know what others would be okay. 
On the depo I had gotten severe chronic migraine with aura, which I thought seemed better on the mirena. Turns out within 2 months of getting it removed my migraines got wayyyy better.

I had the copper one I wouldn't recommend anything that goes into the body my IUD got bent and then starting growing into my fat she had to pull really hard to get it out.
