Am I overreacting?

So I had a customer today that came in and before she left I told her happy Mother’s Day and she told me “Happy soon to be Mother’s Day since you’re not a mom yet” I’m sure I’m just over thinking the situation but for some reason it just rubbed me the wrong way, even though my child isn’t here yet i feel like I’m still just as much of a mother.....

why did she even feel the need to add that? She could even have just said “happy soon to be mother’s day!” and left it at that without the catty little “you’re not a mom yet” on the end, that feels so unnecessary.

It’s stupid. But when something like that bothers me, I remind myself, I’m only making myself mad the more I think about it, it’s not effecting the other person.

I hate when people say that shit. Like you are currently caring and preparing for a baby. 
The year I miscarried my coworker brought me flowers for Mother’s Day and someone was like “why would she do that? You don’t have any kids” it broke my heart.

I always thought it was so nice in retail when a customer would say happy Mother’s Day even though I didn’t have kids. Because I have a dog, 2 nephews etc... you can be very mothering without having your own children. Plus you never know who’s trying or what they are going through. So yes we are definitely Mother’s and that persons a jerk!

Personally, I don't feel like a mom yet, and im not celebrating mother's day until next year. However, she didn't to add that. She also doesn't know if you have other kids or not. Seems... Just kind of rude and unnecessary.
