Potty training tips?

My little one turns two in one month. She’s been using the potty off and on but she still wears a diaper. I want to try hard on getting her potty trained before her sister arrives in a few months. I don’t want to push her but I think she could get it if we tried a little harder. I have a four day weekend off work for memorial day and that’s when I will try! What has made you successful on potty training? Thanks!

I read “oh crap! Potty training” and found it super helpful! I love that she opens the door to be as flexible as you need to be. It certainly gave me confidence.

My stepson was 3 when we started potty training. We put him in big boy paints and explained if he peed and pooed without going to the toilet he was going to get really icky. We frequently asked if he had to go potty and put him on the toilet. It probably took a few weeks with the support of family to get him going to the bathroom. Surprisingly he didnt have many accidents. Patience is key!

I haven’t done this but how my mother potty trained my brother is one weekend she spent the entire time at home. Brother was to not wear any diaper or underwear. This is what really motivates them to tell you they need to go potty. They understand if they aren’t wearing anything their bowels will go all over the furniture. She would ask his every 45 minutes if he needed to go to the bathroom. After that weekend he was potty trained. While I don’t know if the success rate on this is 100% I’m sure it will definitely get them to understand you potty on the toilet and not in your pants.
