Is it wrong??

Question

Is it wrong for people to tell me Happy Mothers Day when I’m technically not a mom? Friends and family have been telling me Happy Mothers Day today, I had a chemical pregnancy and I have fur-babies, but that’s it. We’ve been trying for 3 years and my doctor put me on birth control to regulate me to see if that helps. I just feel wrong for accepting the gesture when I’m not a mom.

My sister in law doesnt have children but I got her flowers and said happy mothers day to her because she has a new puppy who she treats as her child. Im sure that is why they are thanking you.

The thing I always felt about mother’s day is that you don’t HAVE to have a baby to be a mother figure. I tell my friends happy Mother’s Day because sometimes they have had to stand in and be my mom when I needed one. 
I had two miscarriages before my son was born, and I was so thankful when people would tell me happy Mother’s Day. I was a mom. I was born to be a mom. Having children doesn’t make you a mother. Being a mother is characteristic. I would much rather say happy Mother’s Day to women who deserve it regardless of they’ve ever given birth or not than to say happy Mother’s Day to, say, my dads mom who was abusive and never here for either of us. She gave birth, but she was not a mother.

I’ve been told happy Mother’s Day by strangers all weekend, it’s the first time this has happened to me. I’ve never been pregnant, have no children or pets, and I’m thin so there’s no mistaking me for pregnant 🤷‍♀️🤔 I blame my new shorter hair cut and keds, guess I’ve adopted the mom style😆

before i was pregnant i would get told happy mother’s days because of my doggies! i thought it was cute and sweet! nothing wrong with it, it’s not that big of a deal. if someone thinks it is then oh well 🤷🏽‍♀️
