double question— should movie theaters put subtitles (closed captioning) on their movie screens, and do you use them at home?

E • feminist. pro-love.

i saw this today and it got me thinking.

personally, i use subtitles every single time i watch tv or a movie. if they’re not automatically on there i notice in an instant because even though i’m not hard of hearing, i have a difficult time understanding people over the tv. maybe that’s just me!

others are saying that it should be worth it to include captioning solely for people with deafness, even though some (many?) who don’t need it prefer it anyways.

i’m interested in seeing how other people would feel about it.

would subtitles in a movie theater distract you too much from the movie?
