Would you still get married if there was no legal benefits?

Question

Where I live the law doesn't make any difference between a married couple and a couple who live together. So a marriage is either something you do because you're religious or if you want some kind of celebration of your love. Would this change how you view the importance of marriage? Also are you married, planning to get married or unmarried?

We didn't get married just for legal benefits, but they are an important part of it.
I have a hard time believing though that marriage offers absolutely no legal incentive where you live over just living together.  Are you sure you're not talking about common law marriage..? (Which is absolutely still a legal marriage). My state acknowledges common law marriages,  too. But it is still a marriage, by law. You just don't have a marriage certificate and there are still legal aspects of it all.

What do you mean there’s no legal difference? If you divorce, they don’t consider the assets shared? If not, how would the courts sort through disagreements about that? What about medical decision making when one spouse is unconscious in a hospital? Or what about life insurance beneficiary? 
I suspect you mean simply that there isn’t a tax benefit to being married but certainly there must be other legal considerations when you’re legally connected.

Binding ceremonies have been around long before governments started making them legal. We got married because we were ready to declare our commitment to each other. Our vows were the deepest kind of promise we could make in front of our family and friends as witnesses. We have been married for 18 years and I have no doubt we will be for the rest of our lives. 
As far as legal benefits, I am next of kin if there is ever a medical decision to be made. There is no doubt that I have legal authority to make decisions for him if he is not able to do so. This was important to us because we know what each other wants when it comes to medical interventions and end of life decisions. Our parents wouldn't have a clue and it would be unfair to put it on our children.

I would still marry my husband no matter what. He always says “marry me?” And I say back “every day for the rest of my life”. That’s how we feel about each other and still fall deeper in love as days go by (infertility surely helps make or break a couple too!)  
That being said, where do you live that their is no legal benefit?

Yes. There are no benefits of being married in my country (no tax benefits or anything). We did it for love, not for what we can get out of it.
