Yes. It messes with you mentally and emotionally. My father used to threaten to leave us every time we made him mad. For years. It messed us up not knowing if he was serious and why he would leave over us not cleaning the house.  Emotionally it really hurt us and made an impact on my relationships now. It’s abuse.
