Give baby the same name as cousin?

My husband really likes the name Dante for our son but I think it's weird since I have a cousin named Dante. I don't have any contact with my cousin, so my husband don't think its weird at all, but I still do. I think the name is okay, but having such a close relative with that name really throws me off. What do you think?

I think since it’s your relative, it’s 100% up to  you to decide if it feels too weird or not. I don’t think there’s a right or wrong here; if it felt fine for you then it would be fine, but it obviously doesn’t feel fine, so don’t do it.

I can’t imagine naming my child after a cousin. If it doesn’t feel right, then don’t do it. Maybe use it as his middle name instead.

My husband and I LOVE the name Abigail. I have a cousin named Abigail (always goes by Abby). She's about 12 years younger than me and I spent a lot of time babysitting her but we live in different states now so I don't see her much. I would feel fine naming my child Abigail, I would tell her of course but if you have zero contact with your cousin and feel fine using that name then use it!

I think it's fine given its your cousin (not your sibling or siblings kid) and you don't see them often. There's enough separation that it's not weird.
