Anyone getting an elective induction??

2nd time mom and thinking of getting one...any draw backs? I would be 39.5 weeks!

You should make sure your body is ready for an induction using the Bishop Scale. If your body is not ready, the induction is more likely to fail or cause fetal distress and lead to a c-section. If your body is more favorable for induction on the scale it is more likely to be successful.

I’m thinking of asking my midwife to book me an elective induction as well. I would be around 41 weeks though. I’m 39w now and if she doesn’t come by 40w I will ask for one. This is my first so I can’t give any advice but I’m only doing it because my sisters wedding is in about 6 weeks and I need as much time to recover as possible

The only thing is that getting induced can be a lot more painful. This is not my own personal experience since I’m still pregnant with my first, but I’ve heard that instead of increasingly painful contractions, they come more painfully and less like a “wave.” But other than that, if your doctor doesn’t mention anything I think it’s fine.
