I didn’t say thank you.

So we live in Germany (military) and my husband and myself and our little one went to visit his family in Texas. One random day my mil told us she could take care of our little one if we ever went out at night/day so out of the whole month and a half we took 2 nights to ourselves and then during the day maybe 5 times max to get groceries, run errands, etc she took care of our son.

I don’t really get along with her because she came off super judgemental (I’m not religious..she is) when we first met and continued being like that. So I don’t really talk to her and try to stay away from her.

Anyways she told her son (my husband) that it bothered her that I didn’t say thank you every time she took care of our son. I feel like I shouldn’t have to (if i forget, which I did..because when we did get home all I wanted to do was hug our son and pay attention to him). I mean she doesn’t see him often, she offered to take care of him, I feel confused?
