Need advice

My husband and I decided we want to have a baby! 15 years ago I had my tubes clamped, cut and burned. My family doctor thought I was pregnant a couple of months ago, yurns out I wasn't. She did say its possible to get pregnant after this long. Has anyone else been in this situation? Ideas on what we should do to try this on our own? If I'm not pregnant by the end of this year we will meet with a fertility specialist and I don't even know where to begin with that...see if I can reverse my surgery? IVF?
