Good of the many
Yesterday a firefighter was shot and killed while attending to a medical patient. This was posted on Facebook.

Many people have shared and the general consensus agrees that the well being of the responders takes priority, but there have been a few discussions where people disagree and feel that responders “signed up for this” and should be willing to risk their lives, regardless of the situation. Many were pissed to find out that responders have the right to “stage”, and wait for police to ensure a safe scene. The type of call doesn’t matter. It can be a child in cardiac arrest, and if the call notes are concerning, they have a right to stage. That apparently upset a lot of people. So, thoughts?
I’ll share some experiences once the discussion starts.
