Has anyone experienced a consistent, mucousy discharge (sometimes bloody) with painful cramps that seem to pop up and linger days after your period has concluded?

A friend of mine is currently going through this, and we’re monitoring it, but it has us concerned.

Anyone else experience something similar to this? Or have any idea what may be going on?

Additional info: she’s not on birth control currently, and she has PCOS. A pregnancy test was taking which came back negative.

She’s also had an ovary removed (thanks to the PCOS) within the last year, and was on the depo-shot (around the end of last year), which seemed to screw things up as far as her menstrual cycle was concerned. This year, she’s been having periods that seem to last for weeks. It’s just recently started to level out and resume something more akin to the norm. Then this started.

As far as paps are concerned, her last pap came back abnormal. She’s due for a follow-up in the coming weeks.
