First time using tampon since having baby

So used a tampon 9 weeks after having my baby, and it hurt. Not to put in but usually I don’t feel it’s in there and can happily go about my day, however this time i could definitely feel it in there and I felt uncomfortable and it hurt to walk..so thought I didn’t put it in properly or far enough so took it out and put another one in further up. Same thing happened really painful to walk had to take it out.

Is this normal after baby or just my body saying nope we don’t like those anymore.

Before pregnancy I used them all the time on my period never had a problem
