Cradle Cap

What’s the best/fastest way to get rid of cradle cap. My son is just about 3 months old and it’s getting pretty bad. I’ve tried washing his hair good and lightly using his soft bristle brush to try and loosen some of the scaliness.

Side note- I know there’s lotion out there specifically for cradle cap but I would really rather not use it.

Coconut oil since it’s antifungal! Put it on every morning and then at night before the bath, using a baby brush, gently scrub the scalp in circular motions to loosen the dry skin then wash with a gentle natural baby shampoo. Repeat daily until it clears.

I did this but expect Jamaican black castor oil.. my son hair has grown so much as well as getting rid of the cradle cap.

Well you just have to wait until the cradle cap has cleared unfortunately! You could maybe add 1 drop of lavender oil to the coconut oil :)

We tried this and his hair smelled so bad! How do you keep his hair smelling good?

Baby oil, let it soak then comb opposite direction is what I have always done. I have found that since starting to wash the head with Johnson's baby bath milk+rice we have not had cradle cap at all

We’ve been dealing with this for WEEKS! This past week we went back to using adobe baby soap (unscented, etc) and I’ve been using Vitamin E oil on her scalp. She has terrible eczema as well and I’ve been using plain old Vaseline and aquaphor healing ointment. Our pediatrician recommended medicated selsun blue as well. We using this sparingly if there’s that thick crustyness it helps get that away. We also use the Frieda silicone scrubber on her head and body. We’ve literally tried it all so feel free to ask me more details on what has helped or not helped us! I was open to trying anything at this point lol

I’ve been just using our regular body / hair soap with the brush , starting tomorrow I was going to try washing his hair once a day and putting Vaseline on it for an hour before washing it out and using a brush . Cause it’s definitely started to get worse

Coconut oil and a soft brush worked well with my first baby, but she had a very mild form of cradle cap. My second had it so bad, coconut oil didn’t even make a dent. I literally had to sit there with a tweezers to loosen up some of the thickest parts, and then I used a cradle cap foam you can get at target after. It was gone in a few washes.

My baby got the same thing. These two things too it away within 1 week! I just let the shampoo sit for a couple of minutes while I washed his body then scrubbed it away. A couple of days later it started to flake off a LOT then it was gone.

When my son had it I would rub his head with a wet wash cloth while he was in the tub, then used coconut oil. He’s almost 4 months and it’s gone now

We used coconut oil, tubby tods all over ointment, and aquaphor healing ointment. When one stopped working on it we switched to the next thing
