Dentists?

Talk to me about dentists! Are you seeing one yet? If not when do you plan to? Is it a normal dentist or a pediatric dentist? What tooth paste are you guys using? Lol

I have been in the dental field for almost 20 years, so here is information.  Its not to judge or shame, just inform.  
Take your kids to the dentist every 6 months, problems or not.  This allows them to get comfortable with the place in the event that something DOES eventually cause a problem.  You don't want the first visit to be that experience.   Even if its just a ride in the chair and counting the teeth.  Take them.
Kids imitate what they see.  If they never see you brushing, they won't brush (or like it) either.  Brush your teeth twice a day, with your kid in the bathroom.  Brush your childs teeth twice a day.  They can not cook their own meals, and they certainly can not perform their own hygiene duties.   Thats where you come in to play parents.   They might not like brushing.  But they really won't like having their teeth drilled.  If you feel comfortable using a pea size amount of fluoride toothpaste twice a day, do that.  If you don't,  still brush their teeth.  Good habits start now.   Give them the best starts.  Babies with tooth pain can't chew or eat well, then they don't grow well.  It doesn't have to be 2 whole minutes at this age. Just get a good scrub in there.  Also, introduce floss now. 😊

Our guy had ties so he's been to the dentist since 1 month old. At this age they should be going every six months.  We use Tom's natural toddler toothpaste.

I was just going to ask about tooth brushing! I’m probably still going to make a separate post 😂
We haven’t been to the dentist yet but my daughter hates having her teeth brushed and they’re already gross it’s so sad. We literally have to hold her down and brush her teeth while she screams it’s so sad. We use an electric toothbrush (sonicare kids) for her to try to get more bang for the buck as far as the few seconds a day she will tolerate it. My husband asked our dentist what they even do for toddlers and it honestly seems pretty pointless but my daughter’s doctor keeps asking if we’ve been. 🙈 
We were using a training toothpaste, I think Hello brand, it’s organic or something apple flavor and fluoride free. We just switched a few days ago to a Japanese kids toothpaste (ApaKids from Amazon) with an active ingredient called nano hydroxyapatite which is safe to swallow and actually is supposed to remineralize teeth which should help reverse tiny cavities and keep her teeth healthier overall 🤞 it’s like a bubblegum flavor, not as tasty as the apple training toothpaste but still not gross and safe to swallow.

Were going for the first time in June, big brothers normal 6 month visit. Claire likes having her teeth brushed sometimes but not so much others. We got her a Daniel tiger toothbrush that has helped.

we went about 3 months ago for the first time and my son did great. i floss his teeth every night and brush with a little bit of toothpaste with fluoride. we’re going back again in aug. my son doesn’t really like to brush his teeth now.😭 so we struggle every time it’s time to brush/floss.

We have been taking my daughter since she was 1. So she’s had two visits so far. We brush her teeth everyday at least once. It helps to watch nursery rhymes about brushing and now she gets so excited to have them brushed and will cry if we don’t let her. So I always brush hers first then let her ‘finish them’. We use kids crest toothpaste provided from the dental office. She is actually terrified of the dentist from both of her visits but at least it will help with the fear the more we go. They just look at them and then do a fluoride treatment.

I’m using Colgate kids toothpaste. My daughter is pretty easy when it comes to tooth brushing. First she lets me do it then she wants to have a turn. Her teeth look perfect so I might give it another month or 2 before we see someone. I think its good to introduce them early to make them more comfortable with the dentist :)

We went when he was 1. I didn’t actually go cause I was working but my husband said he did a fluoride treatment and sent him on his way. The pediatric dentist we go to has a program called free under 3 so it doesn’t cost us anything for checkups until he’s 3. We use the toms toothpaste without fluoride

No dentist yet, don't plan on it really anytime soon because I can see that her teeth are fine and she knows how to communicate if they were hurt. I don't think she would handle it will yet so I want to wait until she can understand better. And with two little ones, send like a hectic waste for them to count her teeth and then brush them 🤷 I know some people were doing them by 6 months though. 
We use Tom's natural baby toothpaste, we also bought a tube of the Toms natural kids strawberry for when she is over 2.
