What should we do?? Need opinions!

My husband and I love a name BUT we have friends who named their baby girl this name last year so we’re really struggling with the decision to go for it. Part of me wonders if we’ll even be friends with these people 10-20 years down the road so I don’t want to feel regret in the future for not choosing this name... Help!

Unless it's a super rare name that you obviously "stole" it, I say go for it. We picked Maya and don't announce our kids' names before the birth, well 2 months before she was born our friends also had a daughter and named her Maya! We kept the name. I felt like, if they think I'm so petty that I'd steal the name from them, they weren't really my friends. And it's not like we see each other frequently or anything. And if anything, the kids will think it's cool they have the same name. I had a friend with the same name growing up and we liked it. So I obviously voted go for it!

Depends if you’re kids will be friends. My parents had me and three months later their friends had a baby. Her and I have the same name and ended up in school together so we were Candace R and Candace C unless one of us wanted to go by candy. It was so annoying to me and her.

Nobody owns a name. We just named our new baby Jack and my cousin told me they’re going to name their baby Jackson if it’s a boy. So there’s two Jacks in the family, so what. That’s no reason to reject s name you love, especially as they’re just friends

Do they OWN the name? Like do they have a deed saying that name only belongs to them to use? Obviously not so use it!😊 if they get pissed then they can just get out of your life.

In this same situation. One of my husband’s friends names their daughter what we are planning on naming ours. I don’t think it’s a huge deal
