How much time is everyone planning to have off work for maternity leave?

My state just passed state funded Maternity/Paternity leave that starts in January 2020!! I get 12 weeks and my husband gets 12 weeks!

Holy crap you guys. In Canada we have 1 year paid leave 😳 I can’t imagine only having 6-12 weeks 😧

Um I think in the U.S its like up to 12 weeks is the average. So I couldn’t vote here.

I only get 8 weeks paid, thanks America, but we are planning for 4-6. My work will let you take unpaid leave. Not ideal, but I'm not leaving a 2 month old at home!!

From Sweden here, we get 480 paid days for maternity leave. 90 of those are for the dad only, the rest you can divide as you wish. I'm still at home with my 9 month old daughter and will not go back to work before nr 2 arrives. Due date January 2. 😊

In New Zealand it's about 14 weeks paid leave & if you meet criteria your employer has to hold your job for you for a year.
(But they don't pay you during that time)
I'm planning on taking a year off as we can afford to.

I live in Denmark and here we get about a year paid leave 🙏🏻

I do work currently but with my husband being in the military we decided a LONG time ago that we wanted me to stay home with our kids. He’s going to be gone enough, present parenting is something we really feel like we missed out on as kids. So this has always been our plan and our priority.
