Tongue/Lip tie repair under general anesthesia?!???

Anyone else have experience with a tongue/lip tie? My little one has both. I’ve been trying to keep up with breastfeeding, but after 8 weeks of sore, raw, and cracked nipples... it gets hard! I saw a lactation consultant who suggested having him seen by an ENT or pediatric dentist. Well... we saw the ENT and he agreed it should be repaired, unless I want to switch exclusively to bottle feeding. I’m hoping to keep nursing at night when I return to work and I love the bonding of nursing! The catch? He suggested using general anesthesia. He said lip ties tend to be more painful, bleed more, and are higher risk to scar back into place... so he does it under anesthesia to keep the baby still and comfortable while he does the repair and places sutures. 
I was already nervous about the procedure.. but now general anesthesia has me stressing! Anyone else go through this?? Thank you!
Symptoms: difficulty initially latching, falling off once latched, long nursing sessions (>30-40min), frequent nursing (he still nurses every 30- 90min), sore, raw and cracked nipples, latches much easier and finishes FAST with a bottle. He also still has blistered lips from nursing so long/so much effort. He is gaining weight fine, but we think it’s because he nurses so often.

See a pediatric dentist who specializes in laser frenectomies!!! My daughter was severely tongue and lip tied. At six weeks a pediatric dentist snipped it using laser technology, the procedure took less than five min, she didn’t even cry, we had to do lots of follow up exercises to keep them from re attaching but that was the worst of it! Highly suggest looking into that. We’d gone the ENT route first and since her ties were stage four and not visible, they tried to tell us they didn’t exist. Ha! It was a huge relief to finally repair hers. She’s two now, feeding her became such a relief after that. I was in toe curling pain until that point bc she couldn’t really open her mouth at all and was essentially biting down to eat.

My son has both, and basically after much research I decided not to do anything about his lip tie as the benefit wasn’t significant enough to warrant it. I did have his tongue tie clipped. It was super easy and I only wish I had done it much earlier but several peds told us he didn’t need it, frustratingly enough. I highly recommend just doing the tongue tie which does not require anesthesia. Then if there is or isn’t improvement you can consider the lip later.

I would really look and research first. The tongue is an easy procedure and it’s usually done first. It actually affects the latch. 
There is actually no proper research done that proves that it helps with the latch. A lot of Mothers say it didn’t help. It’s an invasive procedure that requires to stretch the wound in order to heal differently. It’s literally not letting the cut heal. 
My daughter had both and I looked through read a lot to understand if it actually is necessary to clip the lip tie. And I came to a conclusion that it’s more of a trend then the actual help for the child. So I decided to skip the invasive procedure as it doesn’t worth the pain of my baby.
I was also told that in the first few weeks your baby learns how to compensate a bad latch ( that’s why mommies have bruises and cracks) and at the later stage it’s about also breaking the habit, after you clip the tongue, for example.
So please read about it, weigh your options and make an educated decision before you do it.

My daughter had a serious tongue tie when she was born, the morning after she was born they dealt with it, no anesthesia nothing. She didn’t feel it, didn’t bleed and was healed within 24 hours.. we were lucky there was a dr at the hospital able to do it that day
