Self tanner safe to use?

I’m super white like almost sickly looking. When I do try to tan I turn red first for a week before getting tanned. Don’t have time to go to the beach or anything before baby is born and I really don’t want to look like death in pictures at the hospital. I’ve never used a self tanner and was wondering if they’re safe to use while pregnant and if so any recommendations on which one to use and how???
