Rectum pain

Has anyone experienced intense waves of pain in their rectum? It almost felt like contractions at the very end of my tailbone and moving outwards to the left and right. It felt like my coccyx bones were being pulled apart. This lasted for about 2 hours yesterday. They would come on every couple minutes. I was having mild low period cramps as well but I couldn’t tell if my stomach was harder than usual. (Baby takes up so much room that his back makes my stomach almost always feel hard).

I called triage and the nurse suggested that it could be baby dropping. He doesn’t feel any lower today. Just seemed weird that the pains would come in waves like it did.

I’m not asking if it was false labor or anything. I don’t think it was. But I’m very curious to know if any of you have experienced anything similar?

I am 36 weeks +2 days today.
