So, my husband and I have been married for going in seven years in September. But our engagement story is still one of my favorites!

It was December 23rd and I had planned his family Christmas get together that year to be at his sisters house. I had gotten everyone to agree with a date and time. I show up at his sisters and no one else is there. I was so mad because we spoiled all of our nieces and nephews before we had kids of our own and so I had a lot of presents to carry in BY MYSELF. So I got out with the some of the gifts and walked onto the porch and there were yellow roses (those are my fav) and a card that had Brianna “M” on it. My maiden name and married name both start with M. It said “I know you think today we are celebrating Christmas but I promise it’s something much better. Go inside and have a glass of wine with my sister and she will give you your next clue!”

The next “clue” was to go to a specific nail salon and ask for a girl named Kelly. So I did. And she did an amazing job on my nails which were paid for in advance. When I got up to go wash my hands I came back to her desk and there was a gift, another yellow rose and another card that said “Brianna ‘M’” on it. The gift was some of my favorite perfume. That card read for me to go home and change into a dress that I had bought for a work banquet we had attended a few weeks prior. (He loved that dress and helped me pick it out)

I went home and got ready and got a text with the next clue which was to go go Starbucks. I walked in and the guy in the front handed me two hot chocolates (I am not a coffee drinker). They had “his” and “hers” written on it. And on the back of one of the cups it said “off to Applebee’s!” Which was our favorite place to eat. I walked up to the bar and sat down and someone handed me our order that was ready and paid for and it said “text yo man” on it.

I got in the car and texted him and he told me to drive to this park where we did ministry together a lot. When I got there he walked up to the car looking so fine!

He blind folded me and led me to a chair and took the blindfold off.

When I opened my eyes I was under a canopy that he had decorated with Christmas lights in the middle of a field and there was music playing. After we ate and helped me stand up and turned me around and we walked out of the canopy and as we walked through the grass Christmas lights lit up a path for us.

We stepped up on a wooden stage he had built and danced.

The only thing I asked for for Christmas that year was a new coat. So he gave me a gift bag and I opened my new beautiful coat and put it on. In the pocket was a box and I took it out. He took it from me and knelt down on one knee and a huge spot light went off onto a huge white board behind him about 30 feet that read “Brianna ‘M’, Will you marry me?”

Of course I said yes!!! And we danced again to a song he had written, music and lyrics and recorded for us to dance to. It was AMAZING!!!

He had lots of help. I wouldn’t want to change any of it!!!
