What the hell.

Question

I asked my daughters dr. Today how much milk a day and she said 33oz. 🤔 
Everything I've read says 16-24oz.

I always thought that milk should be their main source of nutrition but my pediatrician corrected me and said at 9 months is the transition phase. Food should now be their main source and formula to supplement (16-24 oz). 
At that point, I just threw my hands in the air. I cannot tell you how many things I’ve read and heard conflicting info about. It’s just so frustrating when you’re trying to do the right thing and are responsible for a little human. 
Just use your judgement. If your baby is happy, healthy, and gaining weight, all should be good!

My daughter takes 25-30oz a day in addition to 3 meals. 
Up until 1 breast milk or formula should remain the main source of nutrition and solids are complementary to that.

My son takes at least 36 oz a day of milk still. 6 6oz bottles, along with 3 meals. He loves his milk. I wish he would slow down! Lol. But his weight is fine, he’s healthy. All that matters.

My doctor told us 24 oz and said our daughter was drinking too much. she was drinking up to 30 oz as well as eating food very well.

You know what, as long as your baby is healthy, is gaining weight, producing the right amount of wet nappies they should then so be it. Every health visitor in every practice and country will tell you something different. Our last check up my son was 4 months old and his next one will be when hes 12 months old. My son was having 8oz bottles 3x a day, it then stayed the same when we introduced solids and up until he was on 3 solid meals a day. He then started having less milk with each bottle and went onto bottle strike. Its totally normal for them to do that at this age. Now he has cut back to 2 bottles a day and each one is about 5/6 oz. He chose that. I follow his lead, always have done and always will. He knows what he wants more than I do. Since hes done this he takes his bottles and solids so much better. I will put formula in his porridge just for that extra bit of milk, plus he has cheese and yogurt. I was worried, but the more I read and the more people are telling me, it's fine. My son is healthy and I will not force feed him something he flat out refuses. If you think about it, not every child at this age will take 30oz or 24oz for that matter. Every baby is different and takes different amounts of bottle and different amount of ounces. Everything is guideline based.

My dr. said 34 oz per day and he gets around 24oz milk and sips on water in between bottles including 3 meals.. soooo I just offer it and if he wants it, cool. If not, he’ll want it when he’s ready. If they’re gaining weight and happy then that’s all you can ask for💙
