Passing Canadian/US borders with LO?

Hi guys! I didn’t know where else to post this question..
My daughter is 15 months old, & my bf and I want to take a family road trip to NYC within the next week. We live in Québec, so we would be passing the Canadian border to get there. 
The only thing I question is; can we bring her across the border without a Canadian passport? She has her Indian Status #, but doesn’t have the card yet. 
I was planning on bringing her birth certificate, Indian Status #, Medicare card, & SIN # just to be extra safe..but I’m still unsure if it’ll work?

Brought my son across the border into the us without a passport probably 2-3 times now. Didn’t have a passport for him. I had his status card with me but I can’t remember if I gave it to the border officers. I know for sure I have his birth certificate

I take my son from Canada to the US once per month or so (we live close to the border and they have a better Walmart 😂) he’s 10 months old and all I’ve ever had to bring for him was his birth certificate and care card. I also get across the border with my expired passport every time with no issue. My suggestion would be to call the border crossing you will be using and ask them :)
