Cerclage story
So I am 11+5 today and I got my cerclage surgery.
I was very nervous for taking spinal anesthesia and of the pain afterwards.
For those who are wondering, before they put the spinal needle they numb you so you only feel some sort of pressure. It wasn’t too painful but it was uncomfortable where I had to let the nurse hold me.
Some side effects I got from the epidural:
I started to have really bad itching and I was shaking like crazy and was cold. It looked like I was having a seizure. I was wondering if anyone went through the same and had some side effects from the spinal anesthesia.
Not to scare anyone who is going to do a cerclage, but I did feel cramping and pelvic pressure a lot after the surgery. They did give me a pain killer and an antibiotic but the pain was unbearable. So they gave me another pain killer another two hours.
The nurses also mentioned how bc my bladder was so full, that was the reason why it was causing such severe pelvic pressure. Bc the anesthesia did not wear off completely, I couldn’t empty my bladder until it was all gone. They had to use a catheter to take my urine and that seriously was the most painful thing ever. Painful than the IV tbh!
After they emptied my bladder I started to feel much better. But this is the first day so I’m feeling lots of back pain, cramping and a major headache. I also have some red bleeding but honestly I’m so afraid of walking and using the bathroom. 😭😭
I’ll probably update on the next few days.
I am wondering if anyone went through the same thing and if anyone wanted to share their experiences with a cerclage.
Even though this was so painful, I’m pretty sure it’s so worth it in the end. My high risk doc noticed while she was doing the surgery that my cervix is open and I’m only 11+5! She told me I’m glad we caught this in time and we did this decision because you needed it.
I am writing this for support, and to share my experience and hopefully others will do. 💙💙💓
