Cord prolapsed long birth story
Has anyone ever had it happen ??
I wanna hear your stories !
Here’s mine!
I went in April 8 for light bleeding to the OB ER, I was having infrequent contractions and was 5 cm I was to be induced the next day but since I was 5 cm they kept me.
I went to the room and they started pitocin around 5 maybe 6 am and man was it painful. I was contraction back to back every minute. Med free no epidural. Not sure exactly what time it was in the afternoon that my membranes ruptured but man did this contractions get painful.
Around 2 pm they checked me again & I was 8 cm I was pushing thru the pain. It was horrible lol so I opted for nitrous oxide. I also had a doula provided by they hospital and man was she great ! I loved her.
Well around 2:20 the midwife comes back and tells me if she would’ve broken my forebag we would’ve had a baby already. I was trying to go as natural as possible which was hard especially when the midwife kept asking me if I wanted the epidural I almost caved but thank god I didn’t. Well I agreed to her breaking my forebag and shit hit the fan. There was soooo much fluid and meconium coming out all of a sudden I start screaming in pain yelling at the midwife to leave me alone and take her hand out.
Next thing I know nurses start rushing and I was being rushed to have an emergency c section. I didn’t know what was happening all I know is that the midwife is sitting in the bed with her hand still up my vagina and that my husband couldn’t come in with me. I was scared because I wasn’t aware of the gravity of the situation.
Baby girl was born at 2:43 pm very healthy.
So apparently the midwife had to keep her hand up my vagina until I was under general anesthesia because if she was to take her hand out the baby would’ve cut off her oxygen supply.
So meaning when she broke my forebag the umbilical cord was coming out before the babies head.
It was so scary to hear about it afterwords but I’m glad I was so calm because I didn’t really know how severe the situation was.
I had planned for a natural med free water birth in the hospital and because of my blood pressure I wasn’t able to have a water birth but was going to be able to labor in water and I was able to labor how I wanted luckily until I was 8 cm.
So although I had to have an emergency c section I’m grateful baby girl was born healthy and everything was ok.
Daddy did skin to skin with baby girl and my mom had her on boob so she can eat lol
