Do you have to tell a tattoo artist about an STD?

I’m getting a tattoo tomorrow and just realized that I might need to? I have HSV2 and I’m getting the tattoo on my back, so it’s not like he’d come in direct contact with anything. But it’s still in my blood and I’m wondering if it puts him or other people at risk? Should I tell him morally or legally? Thanks!

Yes, you sign a paper stating you’re free of communicable disease when you get a tattoo. If you don’t tell them, you’re a POS.

Yes. Absolutely. Just because everything is sterile doesnt mean its not a risk. Your putting everyone in harm's way by not speaking up.

Yes you should. Most of the time they will still tattoo you, its really rare to turn you away for that. I worked at a tattoo shop for awhile and dealt with client health paperwork. Its just good for them to know, no matter how clean they are, they could always have comprimised immunity or have someone at home who does. Even if they are the cleanest person on earth. Ive never seen a tattoo artist judge someone for a health issue, if anything they would switch your artist but that is still quite unlikely. For everyone safety you should tell them.
