Has anyone used laughing gas during labor?

My OBGYN just brought it up to me as an option, she said it mellows you out and it doesn't last long so when you're done, the effects are gone. I'm wondering how people have liked it? Pros/cons? Trying to think of other pain management options outside of an epidural.

I used it last time for 31 hrs, wanting a non-epidural birth. It didn’t help me for pain but helped to focus on breathing, and made me feel a little high, which was nice for how stressful and painful the 31 hours was 😂😭. At that point it had gone on for so long that the pain was starting to eat away at my mind and I needed an epi.

This is definitely my plan lol I am trying to go as natural as possible and since laughing gas only stays in your system for 39 seconds seemed like the best option :)

I broke my foot completely off my leg 15 years ago, it is was only hanging on by skin and my toes were facing behind me, my heel facing forward. 😲😬 It took 3 surgeries and alot of metal to put my leg back together. On the way to the hospital in the ambulance they gave me laughing gas because all my veins were useless with how much blood I had lost when I was laying on the side of the road. I was making JOKES and making the EMC techs LAUGH in the back of the ambulance. 🤯 Totally oblivious to my pain. 
They don't offer gas where I live, but if they did, I would so be on that. 😂

I've never had it as I'm a FTM, but in the UK its the first stage of pain relief for labour! 
I believe it is very fast acting and is useful for getting through contractions, but can make some people feel a bit sick and light headed.....I will probably give it a go!

I tried it with my last. I didn’t feel it did much other than make me nauseous, but my midwife this time told me the OB last time wasn’t having me use it effectively so I might give it another shot.

It was my life line with my first 🤣 can make you feel a bit woozy at first and if you use it make sure you take lip balm with you.

Using it because my biggest concern is my anxiety and my high BP. Also it's the only pain management that won't have any affect on the baby, and that's huge to me.

I used it with my first. He was sunny side up and I pushed for 3 hours. I only used it during that portion of my labor. But my hospital made me stay in bed to use it which made my pain worse because I had back pain and preferred the yoga ball. I honestly feel it didn't help much. If anything just some oxygen would probably do the same for me. I plan to try to do this labor without it.

I havent tried it but plan on it. It was brought up during my natural childbirth class. She said it's about half as strong as what you get at the dentist. She said it doesnt take the pain away just makes you care less. She said it can make some women nauseus. She also said some hospital may use constant EFM with it so that may be something you want to ask about beforehand if you dont want that.
