Sex talk with my mom

Me and my boyfriend have been together for over a year and a half. We’ve been having sex for almost a year ( were both 18) We’ve been deciding on telling both our moms about us being sexually active, for trust and our safety. His dad knows and His mom is not an issue, however my mom is. Should I wait and only have his mom know for now or tell her? If I do tell her, how can I approach or deliver this conversation? I’m nervous she will not take it lightly or react negatively. But I want to fully have her trust and input, especially for my safety sexually.
