Membrane sweep???

Question

Anyone with experience with this, does it work? Whether it’s hours or days after, I’m curious about results. I’m 38w 5d today and will have this done tomorrow. I’m sure I’ve dilated by now due to more contractions, losing mucus plug etc but last two weeks of appts I have not been dilated!
With my first, I had him at 37w 1d. My waters were leaking and I was already at 3 before I went in. It’s just more uncomfortable and I’m more impatient especially thinking this baby is probably pretty big already! I don’t want to get induced but hoping he will come before due date. Hoping to have a May baby, but there’s only 3 days left!

I went into labor after 16 hours from the time membrane sweep was done. So it did work for me. I was also dilated 2cm and 70%effaced since 36 weeks. My sweep was done at 39W4D. I gave birth after 2.5 hours of active labor. Good luck mama!

So with my son I didn’t have one. My daughter who was born 5 days ago i went in for my check up and was losing my mucous plug so my midwife just went ahead and did one and I was in labor 9 hours later that night  and she was born the next morning!

I had mine at 39+4 days and I’m now 40+2 so it didn’t work for me but everyone is different! Apparently it’s around about 24% success rate for labour so fingers crosses for you.

I had a membrane sweep with my first at 39+2 and pretty sure it wouldn't have worked cause I wasn't crampy or anything after but I had to get induced the next day anyways cause of high blood pressure.
With my second I got a membrane sweep at 38+1 and I had my son at 38+4. I also ate dates, pineapple and had sex so all that might have helped ha

Had one at 38w6d weeks and was 1.5cm dilated and 60% effaced. Wasn’t painful but the next day sucked.  Horrible cramps and pain. I lost my mucus plug and bloody show the 2nd day after and then nothing.  I’m now 39w3d and nothing new has happened the last few days... go back to doc on Thursday so we will see if I’m further dilated or anything.

I know this isn’t what you want to hear but just because you lost your plug and contractions doesn’t mean you’ve dilated anymore😕 I went into my appointment today (39w 5d) and wasn’t dilated anymore, even though I FOR SURE thought I was. I lost my plug and have had contractions since I had my sweep.. but nothing. Getting induced tomorrow morning due to high BP.

I had a sweep at 40+1 and it didn’t do anything for me, I ended up getting induced at 40+3. But it does work for lots of people and it sounds like you are probably more progressed than I was at that stage. It was definitely uncomfortable, but the pain was pretty much over as soon as the sweep was done (like maybe 20 seconds at the most)

I had a sweep done at 40 weeks + 1 day and had so many contractions the next day I thought for sure it was happening that night but woke up with contractions almost totally stopped. Got acupuncture that weekend to induce labor and contractions picked up again a few hours after! After 24 hours of irregular contractions my midwife did another sweep. My contractions never got consistent and I was in labor for 38 hours. I finally had my baby at 40 + 5 days!
