My fiancé is trying to be legal in this country

His dad requested a green card for him but something happened in the meantime and my man move from the apartment where he was living and didn’t change his address and his approved visa got to the old address on 2015 and he had one year to respond to the VISA

Yesterday we went to see this lawyer and he charged $300 just for the consultation and he said the my man is OUT OF STATUS but he doesn’t have a deportation order so this lawyer said he is gonna find out if my man’s case is still active or not if not we can get married and he can get his green card thru me.

And yes we legitimately want to get marry, we are pregnant and our baby boy can make is appearance any day now😊

So going back to this lawyer he is gonna charge $22,500.00 for this process

Isn’t too much money? Or is this normal? We are in California but tbh that’s a car!

$22.5k is way too much in my opinion but my poor man wants his green card so bad because of job opportunity that is coming...
