Group B Strep??

Question

I just got a call from my doctors office and they said that my cultures came back for group B Strep. I'm unsure of what this is, I've been looking on google but any personal experiences with it?

I had it with my son, I had antibiotics during delivery and there were no complications. But I’m surprised they tested you so early as I thought standard was 36-37 weeks since you can be positive at one point and not another. Just because I was positive the first time doesn’t mean I will be again this time.

It’s easily dealt with but they tested you way to early, unless they are concerned you are going to deliver early? It’s something that can come and go and they only need to know if you have it at delivery. So typically they don’t test until 35-37 weeks.

I had it with my daughter, it isn't bad but they'll hook you up to an IV when you're in labor. They have to give antibiotics so baby isn't affected. Some people are carriers of this and some aren't.

I had it with my first, labour was too quick for me to be put on the drip, so they gave baby antibiotics when she was born, because I had it the first time round they just put me on the drip on my second pregnancy (delivery), so this time around, I've made them aware, and I will be put on a drip during labour.
