So I just need to vent for a hot minute.

My husband’s grandmother recently moved in with her daughter (my MIL) due to age and medical reasons and has offered her house to us for no rent. Obviously this is super nice and I’m beyond pumped for a rent-free space... but... it’s literally overrun by fleas and rats. It’s a small house (2 bed 1 bath) and is honestly smaller than the town house that we’re currently living in, but we just found out we’re pregnant with our first and wanted to live closer to our parents anyway. Today we went by to see the progress (my MIL and FIL are supposed to be cleaning out the house because my husband and I currently live 3 hours away in KY because of work and college and won’t be able to start moving in until my 2 weeks notice has run its course) and all the furniture is still there and I’m not even exaggerating guys... I was inside that house 15 minutes and I looked down and my legs from the knee down were COVERED in fleas. So I call my husband over and I’m like, “I just need someone else to witness this, this is gross I’m going outside.”

So I go outside and get them all off of me and just wait in the car because I refuse to go back in that house until the fleas are gone. I also refuse to live in a house overrun with fleas and rats and have a baby living in there. It just makes me mad that his parents didn’t bother to tell us that there’s fleas (we’re paying for the pest control, I already knew about the rats and I refuse to play around with rat traps with a baby coming... I’m just getting a freaking pest control person to come in and get rid of it all and we already said we’ll pay for it) and it also makes me sad that they just except that as normal. My husband told me that he grew up with flea bites and to me that blows my mind. That’s not normal to raise children in a pest ridden area. Anyhow. I just need to vent 😭
