Usually, it indicates that the cells of the cervix are “suspicious”, meaning either cancer cells are present or are likely to occur. Please don’t let that scare you right off the bat, as it’s not uncommon to have at least one abnormal Pap in your lifetime. I have HPV 16, which was detected in 2015. I’ve not had any types of treatment and all Paps have been normal since, as well as HPV tests negative. HPV is extremely common and usually our bodies fight off the infection before we even know it’s lurking around. I’d get more info from our doctor, though. Good luck!

You most likely have abnormal cervical cells, which can be caused from bacteria. Doesn’t exactly mean an infection though. I believe with abnormal paps they will have you come in every 3 mos for a year to monitor if your body fights off the abnormal cells or not, depends on the doctor
