Withholding the identity of those accused of rape.

Or

****Trigger warning- Rape topic.****

I’m currently watching a daytime talk show where they are discussing this.

The two main opposing arguments are:

- those that are accused and aquitted have to endure the negative effects before proving their innocence (job loss, tarnished reputation, destroyed relationships etc)

- those that are accused and identified opens the door for other victims to come forward, ensuring a proper charge and punishment

This debate comes after a UK boy band singer was accused of rape but found not guilty in court, and now his name will forever be linked to this accusation and his reputation has taken a “severe blow” during the events leading up to his aquittal.

Poll question: Should those accused of rape be identified?

Personally, I cannot say for sure what side I am on in this debate because I feel both sides have a point. I’m curious to see what others think of the debate.
