When did you turn your kiddos forward facing?

My daughter is 2 years and 8 months. She will be 3 in October. She is still rear facing and I never really think twice about it, until a friend asked the other day why we haven’t switch her yet... lol 
 
When did you all make the switch?

My baby is 2y3m & I'm not even gonna think about doing it until he sizes out of rear-facing.

- Rear facing is up to 5 times safer than forward facing
- The skeleton matures with age, not size (a toddler’s vertebrae are connected by cartilage rather than ossified bone) 
- Rear facing distributes crash forces more evenly, better protecting the child’s head, neck, and spine
- In terms of safety, there is no reason to turn a child unless they reach the height or weight limit for rear facing in their particular seat. Until then, rear facing is always safer
Most convertible seats have a 40lb/40” limit for rear facing which would be good up to 3 years old for a child in the 95th percentile, or up to 4 years old for the average child. Plus some seats have even higher limits (I know mine is 50lbs/43”) which could keep even larger kids rear facing longer. 
Anyone asking you why your not yet 3 year old is rear facing, or rushing to forward face a child of their own is prioritizing something other than safety. I wouldn’t worry what they think.

A week before his 6th birthday. We keep them rear facing as long as possible because its safer.

I voted at 2 but meant 3-4! She’s 15 months but only 22lbs. I’ll keep her rear facing for as long as possibly.

Our daughters are the same age. Mine turns 3 in October too! I’ve been wondering the same thing. My daughter is on the petite side (not sure of her exact weight or height), but I don’t think she’s 40 lbs yet. I think the limit is 40 lbs then they are able to sit front facing... 🤔
